Calico Cat Portrait is an acrylic painting in landscape format painted by the artist Karen Kaspar. It shows the head and upper part of the body of a Calico cat from the side against an abstract green background. The cat is looking to the right. The fur of the calico cat is patterned in black, white and red. These cats are also called tortoiseshell or tricolour.
These cats are also popularly called lucky cats. In many countries, people believe that these calico cats bring good luck and prosperity and protect the house from fire. In the United States, calicos are sometimes called money cats. In Maryland in the United States the state cat is a cat of the calico coloration. Japanese sailors often kept a calico cat as a ship's cat to protect themselves from misfortune at sea.

Visual artist. For me inspiration is everywhere. When I go for a walk in the beautiful nature, I see landscape paintings with green meadows under a blue sky, golden fields under a dramatic sky with stormclouds and blue mountains in the sunshine. Old gnarled trees and young shrubs inspire me with fresh green leaves and delicate blossoms in spring and summer, colorful fall foliage in autumn and with abstract bare branches in winter. Summer times at the beach are an endless source of inspiration for seascape paintings - ocean, waves, sand, beach, seagulls, boats sailing.
