Sunny Beauty is a watercolour painting in portrait format painted by the artist Karen Kaspar. Two beautiful sunflowers in bright yellow and orange with green leaves bloom against an abstract background in different shades of blue. The watercolour is painted on handmade paper. The irregular structure of this paper gives the painting a special expression.
Last summer I was so fascinated of the beautiful bright yellow sunflowers blooming in the summer gardens and in sunflower fields around me. I realized, that I haven`t painted sunflowers before, so I decided to challenge myself and do a series of sunflower paintings in many different techniques, experimenting with various media like watercolor, soft pastels, acrylic, oil pastels, pencil, ink, charcoal..., trying different papers and styles. That was great fun. This painting is part of this flower series.
